Bingo balls

What is Bingo?

For ages bingo has attracted the American folks to play with their luck and chance. This game revolves around matching numbers in the unique card of every participant. The number is drawn randomly by a referee or it is drawn randomly using mechanical or electronic means. The number drawn randomly is called out to the participants. If the number called out is present in the participant’s card then it is crossed out. The person who gets all the numbers crossed out should yell “bingo”. The claim is then verified and the winner gets the prize. Another game of bingo is then started.

Bingo cards

Bingo cards are preprinted cards which have no pattern for the numbers in them. Each and every card has equal chances of winning. The card contains five vertical and five horizontal rows. They may be made as a throw away paper with printed numbers or they can be made as thick cards so that they may be preserved for future games as well. They are called shutter cards. No two cards will ever have the same printed number combination. The publisher prints the cards in sets of thousands but the cards wil be distributed and the combinations exceed millions.

How to make bingo fair?

Bingo is a game of chance and luck since the numbers called out may or may not match the numbers in your card. Inspite of this some controversies get created over the calling out of the numbers. So to devise a fair scheme for randomly getting the numbers, bingo balls are used. Bingo balls are 75 in number. They have all the combinations from B-1 to O-75. They have many colors and all the numbers are printed on the ball. All the balls are made of the same size, weight and dimensions. This ensures that each and every ball has the same opportunity to be selected. This goes a long way in making bingo a free game. Bingo balls are manufactured by leading plastic manufacturers and there is a great demand for these balls.

Equipment for selecting the bingo balls

The balls are selected using a glass box like equipment. These have air blowers which blow the balls into the box. A slot opens so that a ball may get sucked into it randomly. The ball is then got out and the number is called out by the announcer. The balls are put in constant random motion by the air blowers.

When the ball is announced and then the ball is then separately collected. These balls should not be selected more than once. When a game gets over the balls are then sent to the original pile of balls for the start of a new game. During large bingo events, electronic boards are fixed so that the ball selected may be displayed to everyone. This ensures that everyone sees the ball and marks it and no one misses out due to lack of communication. Bingo balls add a new flavor to the game and make it more interesting.
