Chemistry Bingo

Bingo has been one of the growing trends off late among the gaming public. The game has a history attached to it which takes us to the early 1930’s. It is also believed to be a popular avatar of one of the earlier games known as Loteria. It is believed that Bingo reached the United States where it has now acquired cult status through Mexico, where it is widely reputed to be the Mexican game of chance.

As time has passed by, one aspect of Bingo has still remained same, its popularity. It is even now great money making venture in many parts of the world where the chief economy depends on the gaming or gambling industry. There have also been various iterations to the game of Bingo that has managed to retain its popularity and freshness. One of the latest and more educational variations comes in the form of Chemistry Bingo.

Chemistry Bingo is played in a fashion similar to normal Bingo. It has the same set of 5×5 cards that the user has and compares to the random card called out. The card if present in the user’s combination of 25 cards is struck off indicating that the card has found its place in the user’s lot of cards. Once a specific pre-determined pattern of strikes is formed on the 5×5 matrix of cards then the user upon shouting Bingo signals that he is the first to obtain the pre-determined pattern.

This procedure is carried out until the time the game caller runs out of cards to call or if sufficient winners have been announced. Now in Bingo, the number is used to identify the cards in the user’s set and strike them off. In a similar manner a new game known as Chemistry bingo has been invented which deals with chemical formulations and symbols representing metals and other chemicals. As with other sources of enabling children to learn chemistry, this Chemistry Bingo proves to be a very intuitive way of making people learn. This is because the game is simple to play and is also very enjoyable at the same time thereby causing the child to develop some sort of attachment to the game and as a consequence, become familiar with Chemical Names.

The main reason for the person getting familiar with the chemical names is because the game uses the chemical’s symbol on the card and uses the trade name to call it out. So by repetitively playing Chemistry Bingo the player is bound to get familiarized with the chemical name and its equivalent symbol. In a similar manner, apart from using the symbols, the oxidation states or valence or such details can be brought into the game thereby making it a very useful learning tool for students. Chemistry Bingo cards have become commercialized and are available in many supermarkets.

Chemistry Bingo has paved way for intuitive ways of learning a particular subject or material. Such a game can only improve the player’s knowledge of the subject.
