English as a secondary language has become a basic necessity in today’s world. It is astonishing to actually think that with English being the most widely spoken language in the world, there are very few who have mastered the language including some of the locals themselves. Such a difficulty will often put someone in a spot where lack of effective communication ends up breaking relationships, bonds, business proposals and a whole deal of other interrelated problems.
There are several forms of ESL training that is carried out all over the world. Among these the most innovative and popular way to learn English for someone from a non English speaking country would be to enrol for ESL training in places where Bingo is used as a tool for teaching English. This is termed as ESL Bingo.
The very basic foundation for English remains a much sought after issue and only upon mastering some basics can one go to higher levels of communication. The art of learning English through well thought out bingo programs can be a very rewarding experience. The reason why Bingo has been selected as the game to learn English with is because basically the game is a very simple one to learn.
Most of the people will already be familiar with the entire concept of Bingo as there would be some sort of local variant to Bingo that is played in several parts of the world. This forms the primary reason, along with the fact that not all games of chance offer such an interesting proposition where questions can be used by callers to pose challenges to the players and answers to those questions can be used if known by the player to strike off some of the word arrangement in the Bingo game cards. This would prove to be not only an enjoyable but also a very educative experience. Basic teaching could include anything like learning names of animals in English.
The caller could point to cards depicting the animal and the player should strike off the card corresponding to the name of the animal in English. This can also be done the other way around, where the caller shouts the name of the animal and the player strikes off the picture of the animal as seen on his set of 5×5 cards. This latter concept however is used typically for younger students of English.
There are also Bingo programs for the more sophisticated English speaker. This could range from tense games that have been cleverly manipulated to adverbs and comparative bingo that would enhance one’s level of understanding of the English language. Pronunciation bingo may also be played that deals with how well the player has understood the way of pronouncing certain words in the English vocabulary. Repetitively playing such games with different set of cards can be a very challenging and leave a lasting effect on the students keen on excelling in English speaking.
ESL training these days has seen heavy Bingo incorporation into its learning architecture thereby making for an interesting learning experience.
