Bovine Bingo

Sometimes traditional bingo just isn’t enough for people. The game of marking random numbers off your card in hopes of forming a pattern may seem dull, or even boring.

So, new types of bingo have been developed to replace boring bingo games. One such game is called Bovine Bingo.

Bovine Bingo is usually played during a town fair or party of similar nature. In the game a grid is marked off in a field. This can be done a variety of ways but the most common is with chalk. Once the grid is created it’s then numbered appropriately. The numbers are sold to people on the chances that the number will have in winning.

Once the numbers have been sold the game begins: A cow is brought out and let loose throughout the grid. Where ever the cow decides to do his business and defecate, that number is the winner.

For this reason the game has many other names including Cowpie Bingo, Fertilizer Lottery, Cow Patty Bingo, Bossy Bingo, Cow Pat Lottery, and Cow Chip Bingo.

Some folks have determined that the game might be stressful on cows. I don’t see why it would be, no one is forcing them to poop. When ever they have to go to the bathroom, they will go. Waiting for them to do so is half the fun and probably makes the game more exciting.

The game isn’t restricted to cows either. Other livestock animals may be used. Sometimes the game is played during parades using horses.

The purpose of the game at state fairs or other events is usually to fundraise. Although I’m sure other prizes, possibly of monetary value, can be awarded. It all determines on the natures of the game and who may be running it.

Overall, people love bingo and try to incorporate it into as many functions as they can. Bovine bingo is a prime example of that. It takes the randomness of bingo and adds another random factor: a cow pooping. This makes for a suspenseful, fun, and probably hilarious game with good intentions that isn’t as stressful on animals as some people may think.
