Many bingo players have a number of superstitions. They believe that certain good luck charms and rituals can bring them luck and help in winning huge jackpots. Statistics have revealed that almost seventy five percent of bingo players believe in the various superstitions! This might seem a huge number in this modern age of computers but it’s a quite common practice in the Bingo world. Here are some of the most popular of these superstitions.
The Lucky Seat:
Almost every bingo player has a favorite seat in bingo halls that they just won’t give up. There have even been instances when the fight for a lucky seat has ended in hospitals! As silly as this may sound to most people simple logic says that people are most comfortable while they are in their favorite chairs and it is only when they are comfortable that they can concentrate properly helping then win huge sums of money!
The Lucky Dabber:
Most bingo players have a lucky dabber with which they mark numbers. The most popular color is blue. In the bingo world it is considered unlucky to drop a dabber. Hence most players go in for a new dabber when they drop their old one. Of course the simple logic behind this might be the fact that the dabber might stop working after a while if it is dropped. And superstition or not it is simply unlucky to have a broken dabber when the numbers are being called out!
Lucky charms:
Some bingo players have lucky charms which they carry around with them all the time. Most of these good luck charms are relics from their childhood. These charms include photographs, rabbit’s foot, four cornered clover leaves, toys, certain specific gemstones or birthstones etc.
Lucky numbers:
Thirteen is generally considered an unlucky number. So it is pretty obvious that many players try to avoid the number. Statistics says that seven is considered by most bingo players to be the luckiest of all the numbers.
Lucky Money:
Some bingo players believe that arranging their coins in certain patterns over their cards could be lucky. Some of them carry only a certain specific amount of cash or certain denominations to bring them luck. It is also considered bad luck to leave one’s cash on the bingo table but this may simply be because most bingo players do not want other players to see how much cash they have.
Lucky clothes:
Almost every bingo player has a piece of lucky clothing. They will just not play the game without it. Some of these clothing include certain specific ties, shoes, shirts or dressing in a certain specific color etc.
Lucky rituals:
Certain bingo players have some rituals that they perform religiously before starting a game. For instance some people walk around their chair three times to bring them luck.
So whether you believe in superstitions or not, bingo is still a game of chance. You could win a jackpot on your first game or you could win after a whole night of games. Dumb luck does have an important role to play in a game of bingo!
