Slingo is an online game created in the year 1995. Since its creation, it has been a rave amongst most internet users. The game is a unique concoction of Bingo, slots and a game show called ‘The Joker’s Wild’, which in turn is an adaptation of another slot machine called ‘Jokers and Devils’. The rules are quite simple. However, Slingo is far more advanced than the original game of Bingo.
Development
The game began as a children’s internet game and it stayed like that for quite a few years. Many years later, the game was developed and a version for grown ups was launched. Soon, the game caught up amongst a range of audiences and some offline versions of it were launched too. These versions could be downloaded from the internet and played without the need of an internet connection. Alternatively, CD ROM’s of the game could be purchased and installed onto computers. Recently, due to its massive potential in the market, the mobile and console versions of the game were launched too. Due to its immense success, the game has been adapted into many eminent casinos all around the world.
Gameplay
Slingo is a multiplayer game where each player receives the typical Bingo card consisting of 25 numbers present as 5 x 5 blocks. There are 5 spin wheels present below each column. A player receives 20 spins to mark all the numbers present in his/her card. Each spin will give 5 numbers in each spin wheel. If the numbers are present in the card, they can be marked in the card. Some other items might turn up under any of the spin wheels, these are explained below.
Exclusive Items
Special items include jokers, super joker, devils, clubs and free spins. If a joker appears, the player is allowed to mark any number present in the same column as the one in which the joker appears. A super joker item can be used to mark any number present in any column of the card. However, it is necessary to use the super joker before marking any other number or else it is cancelled. The appearance of a devil will cut the player’s total score into half. If the cherub turns up along with the devil, it nullifies the effect of the devil by shooting an arrow at it. Free spins can be collected during the course of the spins, which continue to be accumulated till turn 17. From spin 17, the free spins can be used instead of utilizing any one of the 20 spins.
Time Limit
Slingo imposes time limits over spins and for marking the numbers. Each spin has to be made within 10 seconds or the player will lose that particular spin. Similarly after each spin, the player is given 20 seconds to mark all the numbers that have turned up in the spin. If the player fails to do so, he/she is not allowed to mark the number until it reappears in the spin.
Slingo is an excellent adaptation of Bingo and requires the player to be alert, prompt and also demands some thinking from the player.
